David Armstrong trained as a furniture designer at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design in Chislehurst, Kent. Following this he spent two years in Hampshire building boats, fitting out a 35′ ocean racing yacht and building an edition of four wooden Ospreys, before returning to London to join colleagues from college, who had set up workshops in an old warehouse in Docklands. In 1981 he set up his own workshop south of Bristol. Since then he has been making bespoke furniture and kitchens and has established a business with a reputation for quality craftsmanship, honest design and attention to detail.
Central to the business is a good working relationship with clients, listening carefully and designing to fit any environment – functional, domestic or exotic. Each design is the product of a partnership between craftsman and client. This is a contemporary furniture workshop with a sympathetic approach to every commission.
Commissioning a piece of furniture is an exciting journey. With David Armstrong Furniture, design and presentation is thorough, costs are clearly defined, there is consultation throughout and goodwill is paramount.
